If one side of the family celebrates Nochebuena, ask what the evening actually includes. Is there a late meal, gifts from relatives or a gathering that ends before bedtime? Do not assume every Spanish-speaking family follows one timetable.
Make the journey home part of the plan
For one possible version, visit relatives for supper on the 24th, open their gifts there, then return home for a Father Christmas stocking on the 25th. If the children stay up late, move breakfast and unwrapping later too. Keeping the next morning gentle may matter more than an early photograph.
