What does Baby Jesus look like? A star can mark his journey.
In your child’s drawing, Baby Jesus has wings. In another family, everyone imagines him differently. A little star can show his route on the map and leave children’s pictures as they are.
The star shows the way
If your child asks about the picture on the map, a simple answer is enough: “That star shows where he’s going.” You can choose another symbol too. Use one you’ll both recognise next time you look.
Does your child want to draw their own Baby Jesus? Offer some paper and let them tell you about the picture. You could put it beside the tree. The star on the map and the drawing on paper can each stay just as you like them.
- Offer a star, a tree or another symbol that fits your story.
- Explain that the icon shows the journey. It does not have to be a portrait of the traveller.
- Draw the same symbol on paper and place it beside the tree.
