Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Making room for both

If your family has a Christmas Eve réveillon, you can still save stockings for the morning.

Ask the adults which memories they most want to pass on. It might be a long Christmas Eve meal, a service, a quiet breakfast or a visit to grandparents. A bilingual or mixed-tradition household does not need to give each custom an identical slot.

Write down the order

For example: celebrate with relatives on the 24th, open one family gift before bed, then discover stockings on the 25th. If the late meal is the centre of your celebration, shift the morning to a gentler pace. What matters is that the child knows which gifts belong to which moment.

  • Tell relatives when your household opens gifts.
  • Prepare any Santa note for the moment you actually chose.
  • Plan for a slower morning after a late night.

“Some presents are for tonight with Grandma. Santa’s stocking is for tomorrow morning.” Use the names and traditions your family actually uses; no national rule decides the right order.
